Powerful Posture Creates a Powerful Image

To have a magnetic presence – it means you have that ‘Something Special’, a poise and charisma that draws people to you and that makes you absolutely captivating. It enables you to captivate the attention and imagination of every one you come in contact with.

There are many factors involved in having this kind of magnetic presence and I want to share with you a few things that will help you to feel confident and radiate an energy that is positive, contagious and powerful. Let’s face it – a powerful and impeccable perfect posture creates an air of self-confidence that can create success on many levels.

One of the main aspects of projecting a Powerful Confidence and Positive Energy is your posture. Your posture says a lot about you as a person… Your posture does not only project your image and your mood, but can also greatly affect the way you feel. Poor posture can cause you to feel drained and lack-luster as well as cause unnecessary tension that often translates in headaches, shoulder and neck pain and also chronic lower back pain amongst other things.

Ideal posture is when the body is totally aligned with gravity. Now I am going to share with you how you can improve posture greatly. I give you my favorite visualization and a few practical tips. It is very helpful to use a full-length mirror when you assess your own posture and while working on improving posture.

Try this:

Imagine a velvet rope from the sky attached to the crown of your head, and you are suspended – hovering an inch above the ground – as if gravity does not exist. See your skeleton just gently and relaxed, hanging.

Now roll your shoulders back and down – don’t expand the ribs, just open your chest sideways and imagine your heart reaching out in front of you.

When facing the mirror, look at your belt line – it should be totally horizontal to the floor. The same goes for when you are side on to the mirror. If your belt is hanging down in the front and up in the back or vice versa, then you know your pelvis is tilted forward or backward. Your belt-line should be horizontal to the floor from every angle. Think of your tail bone reaching straight down towards the floor while still reaching tall trough the crown of your head.

Now become aware of your abdominal muscles. Think of drawing them in and up towards your spine. Feel them lengthening from your pubic bone all the ways up to were they connect under the rib cage. Make sure that the backs of your knees are lengthened but not locked. Be aware of the bottoms of your feet. Make sure you connect firmly to the floor with the big toe, little toe, the whole ball of the foot and the whole heel. Not rolling the feet inward or outward. Take a deep breath.

Now take a good look at yourself in the mirror – what do you see? I bet you like it a whole lot.

This posture can become a habit. Initially you might have to remind yourself constantly to stand up straight, pull in your tummy and pull your shoulders back and down, but after just a couple of weeks this will start feeling much more natural and habitual.

If you start by improving your posture, this can go a long way towards making great first impressions as well as be charismatic, likable and attractive.

Enjoy your new image and keep at it!
